The first-ever Greater Bay Area International Sports Business Summit concluded successfully at the Galaxy International Convention Center (GICC) in Macau. Guangdong Province and Mr. Pun Weng Kun, President of the Sports Bureau of Macau SAR graced the summit’s opening remarks together with Mr. Francis Lui, Vice Chairman of Galaxy Entertainment Group and Mr. Jay Li, Co-Chair of the GBA International Sports Business Summit Organizing Committee and Founder and CEO of Realeague. The summit also saw other globally recognized figures in the sports industry such as Joe Tsai, Li Ning, Dwyane Wade, and Yao Ming as distinguished speakers to share their insights on different sports business matters. A distinctive basketball invitational match was also organized and played during the summit, symbolizing the theme of “Connecting the World Through Sports”, promoting international connections among the participants through the language of sports.

Amidst the Greater Bay Area’s dedicated efforts to cultivate the event economy, Macau is taking proactive measures to promote the “MICE + Sports” sector, resulting in the summit being hosted in Macau with GICC providing valuable support, who is committed to fostering the interconnected growth of the entertainment, sports, and convention and exhibition industries. The comprehensive two-day summit encompassed a diverse range of 12 panels, fireside chats, and keynote speech. These engaging sessions centered around fostering exchanges and discussions within the realms of sports influence, sports marketing, sports investment, women’s sports, and more. The summit began with the Fireside Chat with Joe Tsai: “Love of Sports and Measures of Success”, featuring Joe Tsai, Chairman of Alibaba and Owner of Brooklyn Nets, moderated by Emily Tan, CNBC Senior Correspondent, and ended with a Fireside Chat with Dwyane Wade: Basketball, Business and Raising the Next-Gen, featuring basketball legend Dwyane Wade, moderated by Chibo Tang, Managing Partner of Gobi Partners GBA.

Basketball Invitational Match – Connecting the World with Sports

On the second day of the summit,  an exciting basketball invitational game between the GBA Summit Representative Team, which comprised notable speakers from the summit such as Joe Tsai, Will Liu (Singer, Actor, and Renowned Fitness Expert), the Macau Basketball A Team, and many other guests from the summit. The intense competition culminated in a final match point of 128 versus 106, resulting in a resounding victory for the GBA Summit Representative Team. The exhilarating outcome generated significant buzz and excitement for the morning that set the tone for the rest of the summit.
